DESCRIPTION: In this course, we will examine practical strategies and approaches to teaching English language skills. We will apply current theories and practices of teaching and learning to the design of lesson plans and the creation of authentic materials which are designed to encourage the confidence and communicative competence of students. We will practice strategies of student engagement and classroom management, both applicable to in-person and online learning, as well as design tasks that reliably evaluate student outcomes and provide feedback. We will discuss teaching and learning practices which promote inclusion. Participants will design and present a short lesson plan.

Participants will reliably demonstrate the ability to:
– Design communicative lessons
– Use techniques and strategies to support a learning environment that is inclusive and engaging
